Referring to Your Lordship's despatch No.106
of the 29th. May laat on the subject of the registration of
Medical Practitioners in Hongkong, I have the honour to
state that after further consideration I have decided that
it is inadvisable at the present time to proceed with the
amendment of the Medical Registration Ordinance suggested
in my despatch No.66 of the 20th. March last.

The principle of exclusive legislation in
favour of practitioners, whose names are registered in the
British Medical Register, was discussed at length in connec-
tion with the Dentists' Registration Bill, which was intro-
duced in Legislative Council shortly after the receipt of
Your Lordship's despatch No.51 of the 9th. March last.

It was urged by the unofficial members of
